With the outdoor cycling season mostly behind us and we start to consider our fitness plan for riding next summer, have you been wondering how to approach your training.? Have you questioned whether your riding and training are efficient, appropriate or effective? Have you been mulling over the best ways to get faster for those group rides or races? Perhaps you just have an interest in training with heart rate or power in an informed way? If you answered yes to any of the above, then bring your questions and queries and join us. Headwinds is hosting a winter training program lead by Canadian Olympic Team Coach Lawrence Steinke.
A brief Bio of Lawrence Steinke:
Lawrence Steinke was a Canadian National Team athlete in Cycling, Volleyball and Track and Field and is presently one of only a handful of level 4/5 Coaches in Canada. He has been part of the Canadian National Athletics Team Program for more than 20 years and coached at five World Championships, four Olympic Games and numerous international events such as the Commonwealth Games and Pan American Games. Athletes he coached have amassed a plethora of international medals, 2 world records, 7 Canadian records, numerous provincial records, as well as innumerable Provincial and National Championship medals.His Post Graduate work was in Physiology, and specifically, in lactate threshold and recovery. Steinke presently works for Athletics Canada as a consultant and coach, as well as the University of Lethbridge as Head Coach. As well, he was also part of the writing team for the New NCCP National Coaching Certification program and wrote modules related to physiology, biomechanics, strength training and long-term athlete development. He also managed the High Performance Testing lab at the University of Lethbridge from 1987-1998.
